In the experts opinion what are the differences between
1) TX power 1 and Sensitivity 99
2) TX power 3 and Sensitivity lower
In what situation might they be of use and can you explain why.
I'm trying to understand these setting more.

An interesting question. I only know that TX is the actual transmitting power of the coil and so TX3 is a setting for when extra depth is desirable. As such it is a bigger drain on the battery. TX1 presumably, is for shallower searching, needed perhaps on an irony roman site that has been churned about already by agricultural machinery. The relationship between TX and Sensitivity is something that I'm not really sure about but I would suppose that at TX3, it's best to try and get maximum sensitivity as well, as long as the machine doesn't become unstable.

TX power is primarily used to manage battery life - the coil will run for less time on the highest power setting, and the longest on the lowest power setting.
The highest power setting should also be beneficial if you have electrical interference problems, eg. cellphone masts, electric animal fences, urban smog, other detectors, as it increases the ratio of wanted signal to unwanted signal.
It has no effect on depth, as the receive sensitivity is lowered/increased in sympathy with higher/lower TX power, respectively. And it wouldn't make any difference, anyway, as the ground signal is what is limiting depth. Boosting TX power just increases ground signal and target signal by the same amount, so your machines brain still can't distinguish the two any better.

"TX Power
The TX Power control allows a user to select an optimal level of strength of the machines emitted electromagnetic field depending on ground conditions.
Lower levels of TX gain should be used when searching junky or mineralized sites, higher levels for cleaner ground.
*Note : The depth difference gained by using TX1 and TX3 is very minimal, higher levels can lose performance in certain ground….2 is a good compromise."
Also
"The ground is free of iron junk, and a level of mineral content is low - the TX Power should be set at 3 to increase the Detection Depth; however, more battery power will be consumed, hence shorter battery life - almost two times shorter than with the TX Power at 1.n theory, the TX Power set at 3 increases the Deus' detecting range, but, under real conditions, the increase is noticeable only for medium and large targets (the difference between settings 1 and 3 will be approximately 2 inches). For small coins, the increase is miniscule. This is why, levels 1 and 2 are more practical for detecting small and tiny coins such as medieval hammereds. The setting of 3 is default for the 'Relic' factory preset program which utilizes a low 4 kHz frequency (optimal for deep large targets)."

Would you need to be more careful about choice of TX Power if you had the 11" coil?

No the difference is very littlemuddy fingers wrote:Would you need to be more careful about choice of TX Power if you had the 11" coil?
You can leave it on two .
Someone did do a test in the field swapping between the three settings when a target was found and found no difference except battery life.

"Freq Shift
This is used when you want to eliminate sources of electronic interference such as chatter from other machines, pin point probes, electrical masts. Frequency shift slightly nudges the frequency from the central position (left or right) in order to maintain a smoother operation.
*Note: If you move from the central position, you ability to adjust the TX gain will disappear from the menu."
PS I have been detecting with people who have had the choice of coils and they detect 99% of the time with the 11" is a bit of a beast separation is almost as good as the 9" and depth is not far behind the 13"

Just read glennuk1 original post again
Sensitivity is sometime written as power of the machine in some articles. This is misleading
You can thing of Sensitivity more like the gain of the machine. You would thing the higher you can run it the better. To a point this is true. However to much chatter and you will be loosing targets lost in all the chatter.
