The beach just South of Blackpool 30/4/16

Post by bainies »

The weather was variable yesterday, but decided to go to the beach at about 2pm, and I'm glad I did, the sun came out and it was a terrific day to do some detecting.

Went to the sand dunes just south of Blackpool after some advice from a member on here about detecting the beach opposite the old Pontins (now demolished).

The tide was quite far out, but I was having no luck at all, not a single signal for the first 15 mins, but then I moved slightly inland and got a strong signal and this popped up:

Now I know it isn't gold or a hammered coin, but as my first bullet casing, exiting for me :D I don't think that this one would have been from the rifle shooting range on the pier at Blackpool as it is from a handgun I think looking at the 'net and with the size of lead that it would have projected, quite dangerous!

and next to it two more casings, these could be from the rifle ranges on the piers at Blackpool and washed down the coast.

The only other interesting find were:

No idea what it is, seems to have some copper inside it, but a decorative pattern on the front that cuts off, the item has not been broken or cut at the bottom. Has two eyelets on the top, any ideas?

The bracket thing has a hole and an opposite hole with a screw thread. it is amazingly strong, not sure what material it is made of, but impossible to even flex it with bare hands.

Different find, not seen one of these before. That`s the thing with this hobby you never know what you will find. My last trip down the beach found a Eley No12 Gastight , shotgun cap, something different. Had some replies on here and also sent Eley an email with a couple of questions hoping they had company archives but never received a reply.
Some of the fun is doing the research to find out about what you have dug up. True it`s not a Hammy or Gold coin but you found it and have put the post up to show others.
Well found ::g
