Having read the manual for the Deus, there is very little info on the horse shoe on the display other than it is for signal strength of both ferrous and non ferrous targets. The ferrous targets appear on the left of the horse shoe and non ferrous on the right. I wondered if there was any more info on the horse shoe display and if more experienced Deus users can offer any tips on using the horse shoe display information?
I usually forget to look at it and can't see it all that clearly anyway but I don't think its all that foolproof. Its probably like on my Whites Beach Hunter where out of ten sweeps back and forth, just one triggers the red light- meaning iron. In that case it always does turn out to be iron so it would be interesting to know if the horse shoe on the Deus responds similarly. The fact with the Deus that the signal is on land, as opposed to wet sand, may mean that there is a stronger likelihood that the signal is something positive but at a greater depth than the disc channel can accurately ID.
In my (limited experience), I've had the 'horseshoe' show ferrous one way, and non-ferrous on the opposite direction swing. Also, the depth gauge on the horseshoe doesn't seem to be very accurate, other than signifying targets that really are close to the coil.
