Useful Roman Roads overlay for Google Earth

Post by Martin B »

Might be of use to some,

I cam across this whilst trying to find a similar GE overlay for Anglo-Saxon Britain. It shows quite a bit more than just Roman roads as well,

Martin, thank you so much for providing this - this is brilliant. Downloaded and plugged right into Google maps. Particularly relevant to me as I'm, detecting next to a Roman road but what I hadnt realised is that there's a also a minor branch road at the end of the field I'm detecting. So, I've learned that I've roman roads on 2 sides of the field I'm on today. Funnily enough, its also one of the least productive fields I've been on.

Its a Google Earth Keyhole Markup Language file (KML or KMZ), it needs to be opened in Google Earth. If you install Google Earth or Google Earth Pro, then the machine should then recognise the file and open it. Note that it will probably put it in 'temporary places' if you right click it and select 'save to my places' it will make it permanent in your installation of Google Earth.

Link to download and install (windows and mac)

I Use GE Pro at work and its become such an invaluable tool that ive finally managed to convince the company IT dept to install it properly for us! :))
