formby beach no luck today

so went down to formby beach today to get a few hours of detecting in with my new makro racer 2 i found about £2.20 in total but using beach mode on the wet i never got a signal for ages do any of you guys go by a guide line when on beaches ?

Just drag your spade behind you and you can see where you have been

Did you know Formby beach is part of no go area as it is a nature reserve starting from Crosby coastguard station car park up to Ainsdale ,it is a bit vague where the reserve ends before Ainsdale.
