XP coil battery
XP coil battery
I bought a Deus that was 2 months old in April so only 6 months old now, as its been closed season for me because land was all planted I have just started to take the machine out. I was out last Sunday for only about 3 hours,
I had charged everything up the Saturday before but noticed that the coil battery indicator on the remote was showing very little charge & was flashing sometimes as well, spoke to one of our club members who said that maybe it did not charge correctly & to try charging it on its own. I did that Sunday evening & when I checked the battery indicator was showing solid bar on the remote for the coil 2/3 of the way across the coil, I left it for another hour & it did not go any higher so assumed this was as far as it went. I went out today for 3 hours, the bar was the same as it was on Sunday after charging so went on my way, after a couple of hours the battery was half gone according to the bar on the remote for the coil is this right ? if I stayed out all day I am worried that the battery is not going to last. I have the receipt for the detector & I think if I remember reading correctly that the warranty is transferable. I know very little about the Deus so hope someone can advise if its ok or not

I get the same on one of my coils, the others are fine. I have found that although it does not show a full charge it has actually got a full charge and lasts for two four hour sessions, the last couple of hours it shows empty but keeps going and I have never had it discharge completely. Hopefully yours is the same. Try leaving it on when charged and see how long it lasts, you could do this when you are home for the day.
Thanks for that, what I do not want to happen is that I go out for the day but my coil dies by dinner time so I have to come home.
Hi.
I had a similar problem after buying a new 11" coil. I spoke to Nigel at Regtons and he told me that the Software version of the coil may not match the version of the controller? After re installing , everything was good and the charge status was as it should be. Might be worth trying??

Thanks everyone for your help & advice, I did email Regton & they told me it could be the case. I am not that good with computers so can anyone help me through the process.
I guess I have to go to the XP site & try & find a download for version 3.2. I had a quick peek but only saw version 4. Is it just a matter of plugging my Deus into my pc finding the version & then clicking to action it.

My 9 inch shows empty when charged with the 3 way lead, charge it with the single cable and it is fine, was very frustrating at first untill I found how to get around it

I did that but still shows flat after 3 hours with coil logo flashing on remote as it cycles.alloverover wrote: Mon Aug 21, 2017 5:53 pm My 9 inch shows empty when charged with the 3 way lead, charge it with the single cable and it is fine, was very frustrating at first untill I found how to get around it![]()

My experience seems to be the same as many others - charge the coil at home till it shows a full charge, get to the field and often (but not always) there's only one or two segments showing on the charge indicator - detect for 4-5 hours - still one or two segments showing - I think the battery level indicator software is defective, whatever version you're using, not that the coil isn't actually charged. BTW I only use the Deus Lite - don't have the control box - I mean the indicator on the WS4 backphones.
It's all been said before - design of Deus charger clip is daft - OK we clean the contacts, don't wiggle the clip around, etc. but why should we have to do that? If I want to charge my phone, I plug it in - simple. Come on Deus - come up with a more practical plug-in charging system and reliable charge indication.
