Hot programme question and deep iron targets

Post by Euro Detector »

Last week I started using the hot programme on the Deus and am still getting used to it. The high audio feedback you receive from the land you're detecting is great, although I tend to get tired of it after a few hours - before last week I was used to the quiet Deus Fast programme. I want to ask though if it is normal that you get a constant low buzz in your ear with the hot programme (it might be because I am detecting land with a lot of iron contamination, but it seems to have this low buzz all the time, even when I don't swing it. It only disappears when I lift the detector more than a metre from the ground. Sensitivity is set to 90, full tones, iron discrimination 0, reactivity 1 to 3. It does this with all frequencies. It's like having an angry bee stuck in your ear. Is this normal or should I lower the sensitivity? Does it have to do with the ground balance?

I also made a few nice finds on this land and am keen to detect it thoroughly now in the 4 Khz and 8 Khz frequency to gain a bit more depth. How do you normally process very bright/large iron signals or even fairly faint ones? Can these simply be ignored? Or do good finds also sometimes present themselves as iron tones? Is it worth digging them in other words?

And how do you deal with low iron tones that have a faint high pitch signal attached to it?

I run it with disc set to 2. It’s quite on mine. One field is constant noise, but I think it’s mineralisation.

Try running the discrimination on 1 or 2 that should eliminate the ground noise that is causing you grief.

On the iron that gives a good high sound, hover over and move the coil back slow while still moving from side to side (wiggle) if you get the low iron tone move forward past the high sound and do the same, low sound again its going to be iron. But some iron can be a good item. I have had knife blades and even iron knuckle dusters ! as for can you ignore signals unless you dig it you can not be really sure. hope this helps ::g

I use the hot program quite a lot and do not get a buzzing sound at all. The adjustments are all as per factory settings, ie I have not changed anything. I like this program although I too sometimes get fed up with all the different noises and switch back to deep.
