Yes Iam using the H/F coil.

I can see this as the only way forward for XP.

The battery system which is now housed in the shaft is a great idea.

No more cutting open casings to fit replacements.

If I was purchasing a replacement Deus, I would not bother with the 9" single frequency black coil but go for the white H/F and Iam sure others would consider the same idea.

Hope this helps someone. ::g Jerry.

If its any use to you, I use my Deus v3.2 on 12kHz most of the time and this year I have managed to find 100 coins, mostly hammered but including a smattering of Denarius. Thats in addition to the usual dross we detectorist's find. I also have a small silver Medieval brooch going thru' the Treasure process. Good luck if you decide to lower the frequency, it shouldn't hurt your number of finds, just try it and see for yourself.
Remember, there is no 'X' marks the spot!
Not finding anything is not for the want of trying! [:)

There's a video of Gary using the Déus set at 4khz with the 13" coil.
He manages to pick out some Roman coins.

I was lucky enough to be able to choose whichever detector that was on the market at the time.
The Déus won hands down over all the other machines and only beat the GMP due to the flexibility and improved programs that the Déus is blessed with.

The team all use 18khz as we have tried all the other frequencies with no discernible differences on all the coils we use.
I remember someone saying that the 13" coil will miss cut-quarters, what a myth, we've found more cut-coins and small coins with the 13" at 18khz than the 13" coils. That's probably due to the fact that we are so comfortable using the 13" coils and confident we're not missing tiny items, that we tend to leave the 9" coils in the car.

The theory is low kHz allow you to go deeper and find bigger finds whilst higher kHz make locating smaller targets easier, but at the expense of depth. I know it isn’t quite that easy but that’s the most easily understood explanation to get the basic theorystraight in my head. Therefore you chose your kHz horse depending on the course ;)
