Is it worth stepping up to a Remote?
Maybe it's a case of not missing what you have not had but wondering if you are missing out on something. It won't find you any more but is an expensive but handy to have item for adjustments, XY screen and updates. If you have the spare cash get one, if not don't. You might actually find more without using the remote info by digging more targets by tone alone. Having said that, I bought the full set up and personally would not want to be without mine.

Iv found more using the presets, people fiddle far too much with the deus, tony the spade master on youtube tends to give these altered versions of already altered programs which leads to a factory reset at the end of the day. If you want to pay the 600 odd quid for a remote Consider you will get a second machine for the same price roughly.
So basically its all about what you want or what you're after, Iv found more using the presets along side a friend of mine using a tweaked up beyond recognition deus being told I need the remote and humble pie was eaten by my friend in the end but the x/y screen is handy..worth 600 quid? To me no, to you..perhaps I dont know.
Happy digging regardless and best of luck

Once again thank you all for your comments.
I find the presets extremely useful. No 2 on entering a new field then perhaps onto No 9 once I've found an area of more activity. To keep changing settings takes (me) time to get my ear back in to the different information presented to me, so therefore I don't keep fiddling. A good signal is always a good signal but it is the boundary signals and how I respond to them that seems to make the difference between a good day and a day to really remember.
Would a remote give me more days to really remember? Hmmm

You can't hide from a Deus.
Well, you would be more focused on the tone without a remote. On open ground I removed the remote during heavy rain and really enjoyed it a lot more without the extra distraction. Difficult to discipline when you have one though.Moxey wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:33 pm Once again thank you all for your comments.

Agree with the views on presets. Being relatively new to the Deus I've barely tinkered with it at all as I'd probably break something. Besides which quite frankly I've not found the need to and the machine has rarely come out of the Ultimate programme.
I also use it almost exclusively as a tones machine and only refer to the remote for pinpoint mode or change of programme or setting to maybe help clarify a signal. I haven't the foggiest notion of what the numbers for various metals are as I never look. The remote's handy for quick changes/quick reference and makes life generally so much easier all round, but as far as signals go it might just as well be in my pocket.
