Possible Roman or middle ages
Just back from Central Searchers dig and what a great day out it was, unfortunately we only scratched the surface as the ground was so hard you needed a pick axe.
I did persevere and came up with the usual (I allways find one) and probably the plainest and most boring button ever.
Grandson was well chuffed when we trippled his collection of amunition rounds by finding 2 rounds, one I am reliably informed is a 50mm round the other somewhat smaller.
The best find of the day came as we was about to call it a day a very strong signal 3" down and as soon as I saw it I knew it was something better.
It is aprox 3cm long and is made of cast bronze/copper/brass (consensus seems to be bronze) and appears to be the top of some sort of pin.
When I showed it to Richard the expert on the dig he imediatly suggested bronze and Roman though a few did suggest a Tudor Pin. Wonder if anyone on here knows or can point me in right direction to identify it.
Have taken the following pictures to help.

Lovely find - it really helps bring the past to life when you find something like this. And, a really sense of achievement when you identify it!
He's not the messiah - he's a very naughty boy

Thanx Jayreef was actually ready to leave a good few hours early due to seveer pain (I am dissabled) However my grandson who carries my spade actually locked the car keys in the car. This took 2 hrs to sort and my pain had subsided so we gave it another hour. Was the last bleep of the day and grandson got out of jail free card lol.
