' hammys how i love ya, how i love ya my dear old hammys '
Nice video that helps explain it all well. It's the old school screen for me, but it's good to know the XY is there if needed on certain sites.

My choice is the horse shoe, I have tried the XY screen but it got on my nerves jumping about like a mad dog having a crap all over the field

SPECTRA 3Vi I like the XY screen. It is not 100% accurate as we know but at times I can get a decent sounding signal but when I check the screen I see the graph going the wrong way so I know to ignore that one. (The wrong way being top left down to bottom right).
Although i do have the facility of both of them on my controllers i never use the screen as i go solely by audio,so both the Horseshoe which is installed and also the X-Y screen are basically useless for my needs.
Always have been a fan if it help folks but its just not for me,audio wins all the time and so much more reliable than what ever screen option you use. Equinox 6'',11'' and 15'' coils.
Deus 2 9'' coil. Minelab GPX 14'' and 18'' Coiltek coils. Fisher TW-5 twin box. Nexus MP 13'' coil. Nexus SE dual 9'' coil. Whites TDI Pro 20'' coil. I rely on the tones rather than the display but use the xy display; simply because the horseshoe doesn’t differentiate between ferrous and non ferrous targets at zero discrimination. The xy display does this so I can set disc to zero and use the tone brakes for discrimination. The point was covered in the video.
