Beach detecting with your dog

Post by Polyspaston »

Do you take your dog with you when detecting on the East coast?
If so keep an eye out for what it picks up. A warning has been issued about starfish which have washed up on the beaches in the recent storms. It is possible that they are highly toxic to dogs.
A similar event earlier in the year resulted in the death of at least one dog and several others were very ill.
The beaches specifically mentioned are Walton on the Naze and Cromer, but last time it was further round the North Norfolk coast.
I would be wary of anything vaguely edible washed up, especially knowing what dogs are like.
