Ground balance

Post by Nomis »

Hi

have a ground balance question .........normally run manual at 88 /90
and in most cases land gb at 85 86 87 so my settings are fine .......
but just recentley on new land iv noticed that GB on these sites drops
right down to 74 75 ish / now do i decrease my setting to that low ?
or do i just change to tracking ? or leave at 88/90 as i do on my other sites.

thanks in advance for any info and tips ::g

In general use, I would recommend always leaving at around 88/90. Tracking has a feature in that oversweeping a target (6 -8 times) means that the target is then absorbed into the ground variable. Leaving it on manual at or near the defaults are optimal. If you have an area with high mineralisation then you may need to consider altering the gb value. In those circumstances, I personally use pumping and checking/re-checking every 10-20 minutes.

Kind Regards

Some of my fields dip down to the mid-60s in places but the sidebar shows nothing untoward so I leave is set at 90. Tracking drives me loopy, with its constant chattering and unless you have highly mineralised ground there's no real point in altering GB.

Even XP say to leave it at 90. So thats what I do and still manage the occasional goody.

The site I was on today was damp sandy soil with gravel, on a clear patch using pumping GB the Deus set it to 78 which was a little chattery so I just increased it to 80 where it was totally fine. Even though you can leave GB at 90 if you wish, too much variation would surely have an affect on performance. Generally there is an advantage in running a slightly negative GB even. ;)
