Well hit the beach a blackers yesterday, the finds where very few and far between. there seemed to be a lot more sand on the beach this trip but did give me chance to try out the new video cam.

the cam is only a cheap one from amazon @ £39.99, its the xpro2+ i filmed on its lowest setting of 1080p x 30fps, she will go up to 4k 1080p. the sound seems a bit rubbish but like anything else you get what you pay for.

i spent around 4 hours detecting and at the end of the day had 14p all in 2p`s lol and a kids ring but the weather was fantastic so a nice day out

ive done a very short vid so you cam see the quality of the cam but its nothing exciting, feel free to comment on any videoing tips as i dont think im quite ready for spielbergs team yet. also any tips on beach detecting would be helpfull as im normally a pasture hunter so really need to scrub up on my beach reading skills.

blackpool seems to be loaded with bits of coke, its a very noisey beach, you can tell the signals by the numbers, very erratic jumping from mid 20`s to 97 and always seems to be 97. ive dug a few out just to be sure it is coke and it always is. havent found a way of getting rid of them because of the range of numbers and dont want to miss anything else. so any tips on that would be welcome

any way guys and gals heres the vid

Hi Neil, for the price range the camera seemed to do very well ::g B-)
I noticed when you kneel down you almost started to get crutch shots like me while using the chest mount, I think that`s the only annoying thing about it having to remember when you start digging to remember to adjust the camera`s view.

The day looked really nice down there at the beach and that for me is 90% of the enjoyment ::g
Strange you mentioned about the Crotal Bell as I had my first yesterday :-O :-/
Thanks
mrix
p.s
For a moment there I thought you were able to get your wife digging your holes for you, we can only wish 8=ypr =))

yeh its all trial and error at the moment with the cam mike, remembering to switch on would be ideal. trouble is you find a target and forget everything else, just dig

i had the same problem as you my first battery ran out, although i stopped videoing i left the screen on so it didnt last long, luckily i bought two spare. lol i thought she was going to get stuck in on that first find (no chance) =)) i was quite supprised she asked for a go.

ive never found a bell either but i could hear them on the donkeys lol
the weather was great, made it a good day out for me even though not much in finds, 2p`s where haunting me. i even buried a couple of coins myself just incase something was a miss, but she found them ok.

got to say even on a very sparky beach like blackpool the kruzer knows what to do and can find the targets amongst the coke. after my inital beach fail i was abit worried about this machine but thats well and truley past mate shes as good as any out there.

the only downside ive seen with it so far is when your hole fills with water the kruzer sees it as a target which can be awkward if you dont scoop it out first time. i checked this in the manual and it seems its normal. im wondering if makro can do anything about that in a software update.

im no expert but if anyones looking for a new machine i would definatly have a look at the kruzer ::g

cheers
neil.

by the way as for the crotch shot im pretty safe there no macro on my cam :))

Making a video while your out metal detecting is not the easiest thing as you simply want to metal detect and not mess about with a camera :))
I have made a fair few videos over the years but a video of a live dig is another story :-O
I did shoot some video yesterday but missed the hammered and the Crotal Bell targets rl; I had both of these while walking back to the car to get something to eat, typical!
I certainly need to bring a longer life or spare battery, to be honest I think I left the video on at one point without realising, oops rl;
Oh well We can only learn Neil ::g

just as an after thought i was in factory beach mode, but i turned the gain upto 89 and the discrim down to ten and she still ran ok. on parts of the beach where there was no coke noises the gain would go to 99 no problem but where the coke was it was just to much.
ive yet to try her on pasture but have got a new permission when i can find the time to see the farmer so cant wait to try her on land ::g

Hi Neil, at my local beach I have found once you have already ground balanced you can increase the gain quite a bit before it causes any problems and still remains stable and quiet, it certainly does get much better depth ::g

Out at the field I could not raise the gain much over 80 before it started to false, all depends on the day, ground conditions, outside interference what you can get away with, its always certainly worth increasing the gain as high as it can go before its starts to false and cause problems ::g

Thanks
mrix
