Whitby

Post by tarantula_123 »

Hi all,

Not posted on here for ages, but am going to Whitby soon for a week, and will be taking my new Ace 250 with me. I cannot seem to find the thread which someone recommended about beach settings on wet sand for this detector, so i am hoping someone can provide them for me. By this i mean so it does not create false signals like the cheaper detectors.

Just out of interest as well, has anybody detected the Whitby beach recently, and found anything of interest?

Thanks,

I took my 250 to Robin hoods Bay but had to stay on the dry sand due to it going mental on wet sand!

I know people who have found hammered on the beaches up the east cost , theres loads of history there so im sure youll find summat !

hi all,

thanks for the replies. i live in leicester btw. i never knew that about sandsend. when i went on whitby beach last year, a fellow detector recommended me to go further up the beach past the rocks etc, but i cant remember the name, which is probably sandsend.

as much as id like to find a hammered, a scabby old coin would do lol, just to show ive got the basics working well. speaking of old pennys, whilst turning over some land for cultivation recently at my sisters, i found a 1946 old penny just by coincidence, without a detector. a couple of days later, another was found by my sisters boyfriend who was raking. this had a different date, which im not to sure on. will have to have a look soon.

regarding the ace250, has anyone found the link for setting the detector up for beach mode as best as possible?

cheers,

Robin Hood's Bay - You could check the Crown Estates website but best bet in my book would be to to contact the local council (Whitby) for details. Regards ss47
