Hello and welcome Charly OooO , a very popular starter machine is the New Garrett ACE300i which is close to your budget ::g
Its fairly light weight and simple to use.

Hey Charly,

I'm new here too - not yet got a machine but looking at getting a Garrett 300i or 250 which I've heard great things about too for slightly less money.

I'm based near Yate, Bristol so not too far from you!

I would definitely go for a Garrett Ace machine. I started about a year ago and bought and ace 250. Found loads of stuff, but have now upgraded to a Deus. The thing is, you have to learn from the ground up, REALLY don't confuse yourself with an advanced machine until you know what different metals sound like in the ground. The Ace 250 really got me started and hooked on detecting. Good luck....

Ace 250 for me as a starter machine . Great price for what you get and a very uncomplicated machine , switch on and go . I still occasionally use the 250 , bags of confidence with it .

Hello, we do have the older model Garrett ACE250 Machine listed - Garrett ACE250 but from my understanding the 300i is an updated version ::g

Buy second hand first until you know you like it. That way don't lose so much money if its not for you.

I managed to sell my ACE 250 for only about £30-£40 less than I bought it. Just made sure I kept it in good condition for resale.

Yes if you buy a starter detector new around £200-£300, when you re sell you'll only lose a few quid. If you buy a new upper range detector for £1000 you'll probably lose a couple of hundred quid. My point was if you buy expensive new, you'll lose more on resale.

Worth considering the Goldenmask 1+UK. It doesn't get any easier to use and it has a growing reputation as a very effective machine.
