Shaft

Post by atlanta7 »

Hi, My son has the Deus with all the coils . BUT the 13 is horrible as he is 6/2 and has the extension middle shaft . And the coil block . But it still feel more like a fishing rod than a metal detector Horrible . Can you get a stronger shaft . Any info appreciated .

You don't need something stronger, maybe longer. It's an amazing design and it doesn't feel like many detectors because the design is superior. A lot of manufacturers are trying to catch up with the design principles of the Deus.

Concentrate on the performance and trust the design.

Worst case Anderson do a straight shaft design for the dues in carbon fibre which is longer...or golden mask do a complete shaft but ud have to pocket the controler...or is the new x35 13" coil lighter ???? I'm same height as your son and yes the 13 " seems to make it seem a bit wobbly , I use mine mostly on short grass but I did seem yesterday a chap who'd done an elastic support from a harness to near the bottom of the dues shaft and seemed to b getting on well with the 13 " coil on stubble ...

Hi Atlanta7, it sounds like your son's complaint is that the detector feels like its flexing or 'whip' like due to having a large coil at the end of a long/extended stem. To answer your question, yes there are other stems out there which may suit your son. The one which springs to mind is made by a company called Anderson. If you search for "Anderson XP Deus Carbon Fibre Shaft" you may find your solution.

Yes you can use a Minelab X Terra shaft. The Deus coil fits it perfect just hang the control box on your belt. In fact it's a better and more robust set up for stiff stubble bashing. I've been using it with the 9" coil for the last 3 years.

Been to B&SCREW with the lower shaft got a 2 Mt bit of quadrant £3.50 ish can't remember price that's nearly the same shape as the lower shaft , 5mins with a bit of sand paper , took a little off the sides , happy days, tight fit inside the lower, now doesn't whip as much as lower with hf coil on it !! Will do the 9" lower tonight....a dragons den moment!!!! Maybe :D
