On Deus Stem ?

Post by Wigeon »

I have been thinking of buying a used GMP on a Deus stem to supplement my E-Trac.
Just a bit of 'tyre-kicking' at present really but I do fancy trying one as they are so different from the E-Trac.

They seem few and far between though. I havent found one for sale on the various sites. Staffs metal detectors have got one but with the standard stem.

This has got me wondering whether few GMPs have been sold in recent years, having been replaced by the Deus, consequently few on the secondhand market ? Perhaps those that have them simply dont want to part with them ?

What are your thoughts ?

hello, the gold max power is one of the best detectors you can get providing you learn to understand the different sound tones, at 18 Khz a renouned hammy finder, i would compare with the minelab sovereign GT, FBS technology at its best.

I've got a GMP on the Deus stem and will not be parting with it, it could be that sales have dropped off as the basic Deus is about the same price or even that people like me hang onto them! It's not a machine to have if you like pushing buttons or trying different programmes, nor is it especially versatile, it's not a lot of good on the beach for example, but if you just search inland and want to basically switch on and go then it performs superbly, you learn what it is saying to you and it'll match any machine out there in terms of performance where it counts, out there in the fields.

What the guys above say.
It is quite unlike anything else and relies on you getting to know its lingo. Once you do it is a dream.
You spend your time listening and being 'at one' with your machine as you wander around your fields...not fretting about set-ups or read-outs or any other distractions. Superb recovery speed and therefore immense on trashy sites.
People who bought them back in the day will not part with them (those who did when the Deus came out probably regretted it and bought one secondhand). You'd have to lever mine out of my cold, dead hands. I have a GMP stem on mine and am thinking of getting a Deus stem for it.

In short. Get a GMP. They are amazing value secondhand and you will not regret it.

I haven't experienced the Sovereign but I know the E-Trac is no slouch. This afternoon I nipped out for a couple of hours on some gaps in rape stubble. Horrible clay soil and hard as rock. Did one piece of serious digging for a target that turned out to be an airgun pellet. Silly deep, so had clearly rolled out of the side of the hole rl; .

the Goldmaxx on deus stem is best detector iv used i have both the original and gmp would never part with them have found many cut 1/4s and a cut 1/8th and items smaller , once you lear the tones youl be able to pretty much know what your about to dig in reason , a hammy has a distinctive sound to it and so do predecimal pennies and lead, very good on minerlised ground or trashy areas i have a roman site that i get loads off but cant use propointer there as it goes mental and iv tried a garrett carrot and original garrett, had a deus go over the same bit of ground didnt cope to well, person using deus with bigger coil got one coin i got 5 roman bronzes and a silver then went over area that they weregridding and had seven roman bronzes i have had lizabeth portcullis half penny at 5 inches which is good considering how small it is and i only use a 9 inch coil

The XP's (the ADX family at 4.6hz and the Gold maxx 18hz) are unbeatable IMO. No fancy stuff just raw detecting. If you are patient and take time you will soon trust what they are telling you .. using your ears and not your eyes. The messages they send are consistent and you will soon know what the they are saying is below the coil. That is why they have such a loyal following .. me included!
All the best,

Good Luck.... that will be down to where you happen to swing the coil. The rest of it will be handled, superbly and with the minimum of fuss , by the GMP. ::g
