...but I am finding it tricky ( even having consulted the XP website - and Regton closes at 5pm!!!) to know the easiest way of updating to v.5 using deus lite as i don't own the remote (...yet!).

Just a thought, see you live in Hampshire did you get it from LP, if so they will update it for you.

I wouldnt bother ... itsd a bit hitting the local pool without the lifeguards present ... just not worth it.

I also have a Deus Lite, still running on the original 3.2 software.
Is there any benefit in upgrading, or are the upgrades mainly aimed at people who have the control unit and have a screen to look at? I mean the sounds will surely still be the same on the Lite whether you have 3.2 or 5?

You basically get double the function from the headphones, with each menu option having a second expert function by holding down one of the buttons for two seconds to access it.
There’s reactivity, audio response, I can remember the others.
Have a look at the V5 instructions, the pages covering the wireless headphones. Easy to find with google.
