I am going to do some beach detecting. I own a 9" low frequency coil and a HF elliptical coil. I can't make a decision on what is better to use on the beach. Could you give me a suggestion?
Thanks.

Not sure there would be any advantage to Higher frequency, and low frequency may get you digging far to deep, I would use the 9 inch and try 12khz and see how you get on. I have found small silver coins fairly deep on older beaches with 12khz, good luck. Do make sure you lower your sensitivity and have a read up of instructions before going on the wet or damp sand, they can drive you round the bend if you don't adjust to suit.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried lf and actually works fine (even if I have only found modern coins). I was thinking to use HF to look at smaller things (like gold chains for example :-) ).AndyM wrote: Mon Aug 20, 2018 7:49 pm Not sure there would be any advantage to Higher frequency, and low frequency may get you digging far to deep, I would use the 9 inch and try 12khz and see how you get on. I'll leave an update to let you know how it worked.
