Upgrading software issue
Upgrading software issue
Hi guys.
I'm on version 3.x software and unfortunately I cannot upgrade to the latest firmware version. I follow the instructions on the website however the PC application fails to identify that the device is plugged in even though I can hear it being detected from Windows. I tried multiple different machines and multiple different USB cables. Anything else I can do before RMA?

RMA?
It’s not detecting the control box? What version of windows or computer operating system are you on?

RMA means return it back to the manufacturer for replacement.
Yes the software does not progress when it should. Just sits there waiting for the box to be plugged in when it already is..

Hi, I’ve seen this with cheap USB cables. Either their wired wrong or they don’t have the same pin outs. The remote never gets fully detected. Swap the cable for a known working one from a NAS or phone charger and works a treat. Do you have any additional cables?

As mentioned I've tried with several cables - including the one that came with the machine. Is it possible for someone to post a cable to me that's known to work to test and I can post it back please?
It may be a problem with your USB outlets on the PC
Do you have a laptop or someone elses machine to try it on?
The law of averages says you would be so unlucky to have a bunch of faulty cables, in which case i would start eliminating other potential problems
PC usb outlets sometimes fail or get themselves in a muddle etc
Worth a try...
Edit:
Sorry just read you already tried multiple machines...my bad for not paying attention

This is actually far more likely to be the problem
If you’ve tried different computers and different usb cables already then it sounds like you might have a controller issue.
I strongly suggest you call Regtons and see what they say as they really are the best people to advise

Also just a long shot, you have downloaded the update from the proper XP website ? I only ask as there are some XP type forum sites around with it on. I would re download the update, just to make sure there are no errors etc
