In 2012 when we had a big storm down here, loads of sand was taken off our local beach. In just less than a month i had over 30 rings off the beach.....18 were gold, the rest silver and junk rings.A detecting friend had about the same and an old retired chap who was able to detect there most days had more than us.
One chap we met had 7 rings off a small area of sand in about 4 hours.......on the way back to his car after he had finished detecting,he lost the lot........he reckoned it was when he bent over to retrieve a signal he got on the way back to his car........what a wounder. 8=ypr

We're moving up a notch... Found a Pound coin today. Ok so it was at the edge of the carpark, only 10m or so from the icecream van, in full view and we didn't need the MD to spot it glinting in the sunshine, but hey... kerching...

Hi.very new to this x;purchased an old Viking 7m just to see whether I would like detecting....been out a couple of times with it,have loads of beaches in my area so mainly beach where I will be treasure hunting...yesterday found £1.62 cash,an old vape machine, and a tablespoon!
Am hoping to upgrade to a newer Viking detector ,was wondering,if anybody could help me decide which one to buy, bearing in mind 90% of the time will be on the beach.thanks in advance.

Hiya mate
You possibly need to make a post in the "introduce yourself" section of the forums
Then i would take a look around at some of the guides we have for you, they cover everything from buying a machine to finding permissions and you will find these in the different forums to the left

Take your time, settle in
Enjoy your stay

Thought we found 2 gold rings on our very first outing - turned out to be cheap kids rings!

Found 2 (different) sterling silver earrings on our second outing.

But my sons favourite find so far was a .303 bullet - nowhere near the most valuable but definitely the "coolest" for him :)
