Control box or HF coil

Post by rutang »

Good evening

I'm fairly new to this hobby but very much enjoying it.

I was after peoples opinions if I may.

I have the deus lite 9in standard coil at present and I'm looking at spending a bit of cash on an upgrade.

Control box or new coil first.?

Thanks in advance

The black 9" coil is great and I personally think that it pings on targets better than the 11" black coil which I regularly use. But will you find any more by upgrading to the remote or another coil, well maybe, but not necessarily, it sort of depends. If your budget has no limit then go for whatever, the remote is handy and a HF coil can come into it's own in certain circumstances, though neither are absolutely necessary nor guarantee any extra finds. We all have our own different experiences of them whether by chance or not.

Controller first, as you will not miss a lot with the black coil.

We have a lot of WHRADA members still using the original black coils.

I started with a Deus serial number 008, 10 years ago when folks poked fun at the XP Deus.

The rest is history and Alain Loubet has made a fortune at the expense of many other manufacturers.

Happy Hunting.

Thanks all, im running version 5.1

The `budget is not endless but have enough to get a new coil now or wait a month or 2 to get the box.

Neither are necessary. However i love my controller and I adore my hf elliptical coil. If it was me I’d get the controller in a couple of months and buy a hf coil second hand a bit later. Then you’ll have a couple of months to see if you really need it too ::g

I know the X35 runs on 26ish kHz which is as high a frequency as you’ll need for general detecting but it uses different software to the hf coil. I think the hf coil software is much much better. But it’s all about personal preference.

In the meantime learn the tones without the visual aid of the box, it will serve you well ::g

If i was in your position i would go for the box first. It will give you a lot more experience playing with settings and finding out the capability of your machine. Coil afterwords once your happy with your new found skills haha
