Garrett Pro Pointer

Post by David Hesketh »

Hi
I have the above pointer and it has worked fine for the time I have had it which is about 8 months.
Lately it has become unpredictable. Sometimes, when in use it sounds off as if there is metal but there is nothing!

Other times it sounds constantly as if found metal but the sound is like you would hear in an ambulance!

Has anybody had any similar problems and if so how do you repair it?
Many thanks
David

Siern sound is the low battery warning.

Faulty or low battery
Damaged contacts
Faulty switch. High resistance lowering the volts

Fairly common for the switch to fail.

6 x 6 x 10 latching. ,6 pin for through hole. 4.5 mm spacing between rows and 2mm pin to pin.

You might get away in the short term by removing the rubber cover and a small squirt of contact cleaner

Not to dampen your enthusiasm to rip it open but I think the unit has a 2 year warranty. Contact your supplier and have a chat with them.
Would any supplier reading this post like to comment?

Some, perhaps even many, Pro Pointers seem to have had build issued and been very unreliable. The orange version, aka the carrot, seems to be very much better. :D
