9 x35 vs 9 hf

Post by Victor »

Hi folks ,
time for me to choose the''one'' all round coil .
I used the 11" for 2-3 years previously ,now it is gone .
Anybody used both HF 9"and x35 9" ? what are your thoughts . Are they not pretty much the ''same'' machine when working at 25-30 freq ? because if they perform and behave equally when in the same frequency the choice gets a bit easier doesn't it . BTW my permissions are 70%pasture 30% ploughed , if that matters ,with some quiet and some noisy fields infested with iron , an iron age hill fort one side , another medieval scheduled monument on the other . So - a lot of history of habitation there . Thanks for your time .

Hey Victor *Welcome to the forum*

I dont have either of the 9" coils you are asking about ...

I use both the 11" standard black coil and the 13" x 11" x35 coil in a full Deus setup, with WS5's ...

All my current permissions are Pasture and I find version 5.2 really stable on both coils.

If I were to choose between the 2 coils you ask about I think I would struggle to decide:

The HF will help no end on busy ground with lots of iron ... [needs ver 4.1 minimum]

The Low frequencies of the x35 coil will help locate deeper targets on your pasture ... [needs ver 5.2]

I say: Get both :))

That is the point - if they do the same job in the 25-30 freq in the iron infested grounds, I would rather get the x35 so I can take advantage of the low freqs on the pasture . But so many are claiming the HF coil does great as a all rounder . That is why I would like to here from someone that used and compared both - are they the same animals when worked 25-30 freq in the iron/minerals/ancient sites or the HF still gets the edge

I have the 9" elip coil been out 14 times on own permission and various rallys....generally a 5hr hit each time....only 1 hammie and nowt else any good so hasn't livened my detecting up .... issues... on v4.1 and x-y screen on 28 / 72 kHz I believe I woz loosing the coil for what ever reason only noticed when going back to horse shoe and it keep coming up with no coil on the display.... on the high freq it finds minute stuff soooo small the coil outperforms the m16 pin pointer and u have to keep giving it a clue with the coil....in the higher freq I kept getting iron come in at """72"""" very annoying ..... I'd say get the x35 in 11" for my tuppence worth ..on pasture ull want the depth I' assume so I'd say 8/12 kHz?????...good luck ::g

That's the way to go isn't it , I should sell a kidney maybe ,why would I need 2 in a first place anyway x; :D :
BTW have you tried the boost mode on the 13/11 yet ? Is it working well or just makes everything noisier ?

Hey Victor ...

I must admit that I have only had 4 full days out with the x35 coil so far - I really like it, But as yet I haven't used it below 11khz ...

Don't go sellin yer bits n bobs mate ...

Just get one coil - I say x35 is the one ::g

I wouldn't know as of the two I only have the 9" round HF coil but really do rate it, very stable, super light, goes deep and pings hard on all targets. Both coils use different software and have a different frequency range so I guess the only way to tell for sure would be to test them both over the same targets. Though being the same size on paper the X35 coil is in theory the more versatile - but is it better? Oh, that was your question also. -=+:-P :))

Thanks Easylife,
Exactly that is the question ! x; :D In theory both should perform the same in the 25-30 freq , and if that is the case then the x35 would be the ''better'' one for me only due to its versatility in the lower frequency ...
