Best Headphones for Nokta Fors Core Pro?

Post by Undetectable »

Hi all

Im very new to this and having bought my detector, a Nokta Fors Core Pro, which came with three coils but the headphones were missing.

I was looking at Gray Ghosts, killer Bs, Black Widows, etc and contacted a guy who made GOGS and he said Nokta machines prefer hifi quality headphones.

Im now looking at BJ Headphones (total gentleman to speak with) and would like to know what other Nokta Fors Core Pro users are using?

What would you all recommend for use with the Nokta Fors Core?

I've everything else bought except my headphones and find the choice, Bewildering!

What do you recommend? What's the best? Should I just try high quality hifi head?

Thanks for your help and apologies for the long post. 🙂

I mostly use Gray Ghosts with my fors core, they give a good response and the cable is long enough to rest the machine on the ground. They are very robust.

I also have some wire free headphones by detecnix. This gives you the advantage of no cable. The sender unit fits nicely inside the standard cover for the control box. These also give a satisfactory response but having had a bad experience with the durability and connection of the early light weight wire frees from the same supplier, I would always take the Gray Ghosts just in case.

Are you talking about wired or wireless? I have only been detecting a few months but having switched from wired to wireless, I would never go back.

If you are talking about Bluetooth wireless, search on that well known auction site for August EP650... These are low latency ( no appreciable delay in the Bluetooth system). They are ordinary HIFI headphones and are listed around the £20 mark. However, they accepted my offer for £15. For the price they are excellent and should serve you well untill you decide on which higher quality dedicated detector headphones..

The audio quality is very good but you need to down load the August Audio app to adjust\fine tune the various frequencies ect to get the "sound" you want....

I should add I use these on my Makro Racer 2 via a bluetooth transmitter as listed in my signature line. I am very pleased with the set up especially considering the whole lot came in under £40...

Thanks so much for the help folks and apologies for the delay replying to the post.

@ Bors ; Really appreciate your very helpful and informative post! I'm sorely tempted by the Black Widows now. It's a bit more than I planned on spending but I'm guessing they are going to last a long time.

@ Polyspaston: thanks very much for your help too. It's between the black widows and the gray ghost ultimates I think.

@ Pete E: Hi mate, I was going to go wired purely because I think it might give me an easier solution in the short term anyway. I might get into the hobby more at a later date and upgrade the detector set up.

Although I've just looked at the items you mentioned and they are about a third of the price of the wired headphones I've been looking at. Seriously good value. I think I better research a bit more over the weekend and purchase then.

Im guessing wireless has a lot of advantages too.

@ Doyoudigitman: thank you for your very kind offer too! I'm definitely going to be dropping you a message as I genuinely know next to nothing about this detector. It was a great package as has three coils and the reviews were fantastic!

Sorry all of the '@' posts here but I couldn't multi quote on my phone.

Thanks so much to each of you 👍

Can't imagine going back to wired headphones..In fact. I've just bought a second set of the August EP650's as "spares"....

I bought that particular combination after it been recommended on an older thread on here, I know one or two others are using it and are equally pleased with it..

IIRC the transmitter on board battery lasts for 8 hours while the headphones are rated for 16hours..

Peter

Thanks very much Peter

I am going to buy one of the transmitter this with the LL low latency just to try on something else as well.

There are two coming up in amazon, they look identical except one says 'Bluetooth 4.2' https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076LCN5WC/ ... hDbVNNP2N and the other is Bluetooth 5.0 'https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016UF7J5C/ ... hDb798DWN9

I'm not sure if linking products is allowed but I have tried to just to show you. I'm guessing it's just a version of Bluetooth itself?

I know the v4.2 version works but haven't tried the v5 so can't really comment on that one....

Ended up buying the Black Widows from the shop on here and I can't wait to get them now. 😁 What a great forum! 😁😁😁😁😁

Thanks for your help Peter, I've been researching again and it seems to just be a version of Bluetooth. I'm going to get one in a few weeks once I get used to detecting.
