sweepstick47 wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2017 6:17 pm Just a thought. It seems to me, that new members are not making themselves aware of the rules of the forum. I have no idea how this could be set-up, but would it be feasible for 'prospective' applicants for forum membership to answer 3 questions, the answers to which can only be located by a full reading through of the forum rules? ss47
Hi ss47, when a new member logs in for the very first time they do get redirected to the rules page, obviously many will not be interested in reading the section and will want to jump right in the forum.
I agree there certainly needs to be something like you say where members first need to read the rules but I would imagine any system will simply get bypassed etc. How many people whip through through the various terms and conditions sections of many online agreement pages simply to click the tick box at the bottom etc.
I will however see if I can find something to improve and help the system ::g
Cheers
mrix
Thanks mrix ::g ss47

ha ha no probs Pete, none at all, its just us trying to get a really good ID Service that has lots of information that will allow the other members to attempt an ID from their own experiences and of course your ID topic will look a LOT better anyway and good to reflect on for years to come.
All the very best, Liam
PS - took me bloody AGES to figure out how to edit the pics ... >:P

For what it's worth as so few seem to bother any more.

I have noticed that many members, not just newbies, have somehow got the impression that they can only post photos via a third party host site. They seem quite unaware that they can just upload pics direct from their device. And yes, some of the recent ID pics have been very bad, out of focus and un-cropped etc. But those users should figure it out after being made aware. Nobody reads any terms and conditions these days, well not me anyway, but as said above, maybe just something very short, brief and direct would get more notice from newbies? x;

I’m bumping this again. It’s a great reminder to put some info around the finds you want IDing.

And don’t forget to change the title of the post if it gets ID’ed! ::g
