Well...maybe Ferret,
I can see what`s going on here..I think(!).The Garrett Ace`s are bringing detecting to the masses at a reduced budget, reduced price but not so bad performance..putting on a Detech/Nel or whatever enhances the performance but will double the cost of the detector....are the "upgrade"coils that much more/difficult to produce than the stock...they don`t cost that much more...

Probably not but then you could carry that question to so many product groups, Why does a Lamborghini Aventador cost £253,200 and a Ford focus ST cost £22000, can it possibly be worth £230,000 more? No of course it can't but if you want the best then that's the price.
And to be honest, if your standard coil was to fail (outside guarantee) then it would cost you £100 to replace any way and the Ace fit Ultimate is on offer at the moment for £127 so the price difference is not that great considering the depth advantage ;)

Well with any coil machine combo the depth is always going to governed by site conditions, but with the size difference then I would be expecting something around a 30% increase on high conductors.
Yes there is on some coils a maximum 10 day delivery, this is due to me not keeping a large stock which enables me to pass on the coils and such low prices. But even if the coil is out of stock they are generally here in 5 working days.
