I've just completed a field test on the New Detech coil, which some of you may find interesting.
It's in PDF format that can be downloaded from my website at;

on the Field test page

Thanks for posting a great review of the new Ultimate coil. It was very interesting to read, and I never knew that there was a black version.

I must be honest and say I haven't tried one on the Ace but I feel that it's on the "lower powered" machines that this coil will score most.
This is a YouTube video of a air test, comparing the standard 250 coil against the Ultimate. While I abhor air tests, they do show relative performance and though this video is in Russian you can see the depth increase. A whopping 85% on the Ruble :-O

Sorry Morley I had posted before I read your last part. Yes they do make one for the Ace series (click on the auction listing on the left) but as yet not the AT-Pro, I think time and popularity of the AT-Pro will decide whether they make a version to fit ::g

Thanks Chef..interesting,wonder how it compares to the DD coil of the Euro as that is supposed to be deeper etc. than the standard Ace coil.Could buying one stave off detctor upgrade syndrome or am I doomed!!!!??Oh and how much is one for the Euro..can`t see the 13 on your link on the left..or is it me being hopeless?

regards

I know what you mean about lack of information Morley and it holds true for most "Mid range" machines, from the AT-Pro though the Fisher, Teknetics, Whites or Minelab Xterra's. There are some fantastic machines in that bracket but people jump from the supposed bottom to supposed top.
Although my weapon of choice is the Explorer, I have to say that if I had to choose one machine for the rest of my life it would probably be either the AT-Pro, Omega 8000 or the Xterra 705 all of which are mid range machines. ::g
