Kruzer KR40 coil

Post by Phil2401 »

Hi

First outing with the big coil today - just a few initial thoughts, but needs a lot more use before personally I can say whether or not it's good - just running the Kruzer Multi on unadjusted factory settings (apart from GB) at 14kHz.

Negatives? It's heavy. You immediately notice the difference in weight / balance compared to the stock coil. In the field, I spent a couple of hours swinging it this morning but wouldn't want to spend more time than that - elbow soon starts complaining. I must add however that I'm in my 60s - feeble old git - maybe not a significant consideration for younger users.

Positives? It seems to achieve good depth - I got a few good signals, pinpointing not quite as accurate as with the smaller coil, but nevertheless it found targets down to 14". Unfortunately today wasn't a good test since those targets were all junk iron - digging in boggy clay, hole filling with water, water gradually turning brown...but it does seem to get the depth.

On the way back to my car I bumped into and chatted with a neighbouring farmer - apparently where I was detecting was littered with sink holes and deep hollows and had been used as a landfill up till about 20 years ago....oh well - would have been useful for the landowner to have mentioned this beforehand...

Next report will be on a better site and hopefully better weather conditions.

Hi Phil, yes the KR40 coil is going to be heavy as its a big coil. I would recommend something like the easy swing bungee which will certainly help the fatigue ::g
I remember doing a test on the large coil for the prior machine racer 2 and it certainly goes very deep on larger targets ::g far deeper than the standard coil can reach ::g B-)
Thanks for the feedback
mrix
p.s for anyone interested in this coil we have 3 left in stock here - Makro Kruzer KR40 Coil

Here is a link to the harness Bungee which I feel is going to be required when using a heavy large coil..

Already looking at the easy swing or similar... thanks mrix - but yes the early indications are that this coil will find deeper targets - time will tell..
