Okay so GB is really important. I know that from experience. Just when I think I understand it I hear something new that contradicts what I thought I knew.
I used to use GB of 90 in most conditions and it proved to be okay. Then I read people were dropping it down to between 85 and 90 and getting great rssults. One guy I know says he uses around 85 and refers to it as expert mode. On most of my fields I now go down to 87 and feel I get better results than 90. At 85 I find it a bit chirpy and pick up mineralised rocks more. I use these settings on heavily ironised sites, Roman etc. as do others I know running GB at 85. So all is well and good but then I watch a video with the master Gary Drayton saying he leaves it on 90 on ironised sites as if you change it what are you actually GB'ing to? I read another article today on the XP site where one guy was GB'ing at beteen 75 and 80 and having great success. On my Roman site I'm getting top box GB readings of 76 but have great results sticking to a manual GB of 87.
I guess I am over thinking all this but I just want to know why opinions on this vary so wildly? Surely it's just science and there are hard and fast rules?
My feelings are you GB as low as you can whilst trying to keep things stable. Almost the opposite of finding a good sensitivity level, as in you go up until you can't stand the chatter. That may be very wrong but it's the only sense I can make of it all atm.
Please enlighten me.
Ground Balance Confusion
I work off what Gary from XP says. On the skill school he said that going below 87 on most British fields is unnecessary.
To get a full explanation and his view on what it should be this video tells you all you need to know...
However some others on here might have different views and experience?

The lower you go, the more the machine can start to read the ground, hence the reason why you started getting the chirps. It will also false more if you knock it. You can get away with 87 but it's not giving you much, and personally I stick between 88-90.
Ground sensitivity is better because it's like fine tuning the machine without the risk, whatch Gary's video that he did recently on it. As he suggests, I have my ground sense on 5-6 and keep it on the pre-set ground balance. I just check the mineral bar now and again but other than that I never worry about it and the Deus performs well for me.

That video is great and clears up a lot. Basically I'm going to stick to a manual GB of 87 as it's beenn working well for me and Gary's video has given me some reassurance on why.
