nearest beaches to London?

Post by lotus72 »

I live in Shepperton in Middlesex and would like to try beach detecting, trouble is they're all a bit of a drive. Can anyone recommend the nearest suitable beach fore me? I have a Garrett Euroace.

Hello 'lotus72', It rather depends how far you're willing to travel for your beach detecting session and whether you prefer to detect a pebbled beach or a sandy beach. You have already alluded to any beach being a 'bit of a drive' from the London area.

It may be an idea make enquiries with a view to link-up with other detectorists in your area or club for a joint day's beach detecting. That would reduce individual costs as (hopefully) expenses can be shared. ::g Good Luck - ss47

I would maybe rephrase your request "nearest good beaches to London" ... you are going to have to trravle, whether it be a good or bad beach, so you might as well go to a good'un.

Actually from Shepperton I'd probably do Brighton, Worthing or Littlehampton or one of the smaller beaches inbetween.

Brighton is probably the nearest and easiest drive but the council there is pretty rubbish so there may be restictions in force. The beach can also get very busy in nice weather and parking there is very expensive. The other two are generally less problematic. :D
