Please help - missing wedding ring Coed Y Brenin Gwynedd

Post by Lisalouise »

Hi there.

My husband has lost his wedding ring at Coed y Brenin. We were

married at Portmeirion and bought our rings 9 years ago at Corris Craft

Centre, so although not very valuable it has huge sentimental value 😢 We

think it may have come off when my husband took off his gloves and piled up

his belongings at a stony bank near one of the… More waterfalls. We went

back to search but unfortunately we were unsuccessful. We were wondering if

anyone has a metal detector that we could beg, steal or borrow or if anyone

would be willing to help us in a quest to find the ring? Thanks in

anticipation.

Good luck in finding someone to lend a hand Lisa - I live too far away, but beautiful surroundings to search in. Just a note: you would still need permission to use a detector there, even for a valid reason.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't realise we'd need permission so that's good to know. We know it might be far to travel, so we're happy to offer a free week at our holiday home in Fairbourne for anyone who would be willing to help. It's such a beautiful area.

That's a lovely offer Lisa, but I can't get away from Cambridgeshire at the moment. It is an area I know very well, and yes, it is absolutely beautiful. I also have some really nice pieces from Corris.

We have members around Wales, so you may well be lucky.

Best of luck

Thanks Brad. I've had a reply from someone on the ringfinders.com website, but they've said that they can't help because they're not allowed to detect on public property, only on land that is owned by the person who lost the item. How do you go about getting permission to detect (it would be Coed Y Brenin) if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks again

Hi Lisa, I hope all goes well with the recovery of the ring,a precious item for you both. We have a very helpful crowd on here who will be pleased to help if they can. Rolling into the evening now and so there will be more members reading this. I did my Prison Service PE Training at Plas Y Brenin many years ago, beautiful scenery and people, Liam :;@

Thanks Liam. We love the area and we're planning on moving here as soon as we can. Really need to get on with trying to learn Welsh! The ring is precious and we'd be so happy if we could find it, but if we had to lose it, and it has to stay lost, it's not all bad that we've lost it here if that makes sense. I just want to feel happy that we've done everything we can to try to find it, before we admit defeat and take another trip to Corris (where the original was from) to replace it.

According to the web, it is owned and managed by 'Natural Resources Wales' Lisa. Permission is always difficult, and particularly public bodies. Their phone number is 0300 065 3000. I suggest you ring them and explain the reason, rather than email.

Hi,
I live 10 minutes away from Coed Y Brenin. Let me know if you need any help. I know the area very well. (I also know some of the staff there)
James.
