Lost wedding ring

Post by Dan66 »

Hello all. I wonder if anyone can help?
I live in Blandford Forum, Dorset.
Whilst out watching my daughter in a school football tournament yesterday, 22nd October, my wedding ring has slipped off.
It’s titanium and whilst not of great monetary value, is irreplaceable to me and it’s obviously upsetting.
It was lost on the the Blandford Leisure Centre playing fields.
We’ve searched and I’ve tried other avenues, as yet with no success.
Given the ground is soft and the amount of people there, nine kids teams, I suspect it’s been trodden in.
My only hope, really someone with the kit to search.
Anyone able to help please?
Thanks for your time.
Dan.

Hello Dan...
Just bumping this to make sure it stays prominent. I am sure there will be members around shortly who are close enough to help you...
As an aside....have you made enquiries of the land-owner (be it a private individual, council or school etc) of your difficulty and to request that you bring in a detectorist? Best to make sure its OK and to explain your reasons for your request.

Hello Dan66, Sorry to hear about your lost wedding ring :( In order to use a metal detector on land, it is a legal requirement that the consent of the landowner has been obtained. If you can arrange for that, it would be helpful in the event that someone on the forum is willing to help.

I hope you get a positive response and can confirm that our members have frequently been asked to help in this way and been successful in locating the item. ::g Good Luck - Regards ss47

Just to add to the above, u;@ I've recently searched for a lost ring on a council owned school field. Initially the school / council were reluctant to grant permission. I got involved and explained that there will be no digging involved, that the machine can be set to register surface only items. They were then happy for me to go and search.
Therefore, when asking for permission, tell them that no digging device will be taken and that only surface items will be registered.

Good luck, I hope you find your ring ::g
XP Deus, 11" X35 coil, WS4 back-phones, remote and an empty bank balance. XP MI 6 pin pointer. Garrett Ace 250 wireless MPow set up.
They told me I’d never be any good at poetry, because I’m dyslexic, but so far I’ve made 3 jugs and a vase.

Thankyou all for the input and yes there is no problem regarding permission. Everyone simply wants to help. In fact, although I don’t use social media, my sister does, the result being I am meeting two local detectorists tomorrow. Fingers crossed! If I’d had them crossed in the first place.....😄
I don’t want to put anyone else off coming forward though , but I will keep you posted. Thanks very much.

Good news. I’ve found my ring !!
Given the odds , I decided to look just a few steps one way and another where I just missed before.
There it was !
