C Scope Promet 2 Coil & Introduction!

Post by Unininaninimity »

I have an old C Scope Promet 2 but the lug is broken completely.

Does anyone have a spare coil that they could let me have, please :)

Thanks,

Pete

Hi Liam,

Thanks for the tip.

It is my wife's birthday this weekend and she's asked me to buy her a metal detector. She has a particular place that she wants to go detecting. She said just to buy her a second hand one, so I've plumped for an older CTX3030. I haven't even checked that it works yet.

I have contacted the land owner, but it is a large corporation and I haven't found the right person to talk to as yet.

A part of the land is owned by the local council who say that they do not allow metal detecting on any of their land so that part is a no go at the moment.

I did use the older detector a long time ago. I had this amazing signal in my back garden. I started to dig down and the signal got even better the more I dug. I thought that I was onto a hoard. However it transpired that I had an old enameled bath buried end up under my lawn.

I did join the NCMD a long time ago. I made some business cards and put together a binder with all the relevant information, which I still have somewhere.

That's me and I live just south of Leeds, although I'm from Hull originally.

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi there

I have just spoken to our customer service department and unfortunately we dont have any coils for a promet 2. Your best bet is to use a 2 part epoxy glue to try and repair it, use the 24hour cure stuff not the rapid set (advice from customer service manager).

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the advice. Do you have a brand name and spec?

If its a hard plastic and looks quite smooth and clean across the breaks surface it's possibly ABS and plumbers pipe solvent that's used on waste pipe is brilliant for this as it actually melts the plastic surfaces so they fuse together. If it doesn't stick it's quite easy to remove when dry by scraping off

Thanks for that. I have some of that somewhere so I'll try it. I have some modelling plastic somewhere so I will try modelling a thicker lug and sticking that on. I'll send you a pic if it works.

Was going to suggest making a plastic right angled bracket and glueing to coil surface and existing lug so as to reinforce the whole lot .If you then drill the bracket and put the coil bolt through the whole lot it should help take the strain off the repair
