Discrimination elimination

Post by Micky »

I've received the quest pro
Very happy
Does anyone know how the discrimination bars work on left of screen
I understand you can eliminate some but what are the bars are they units of frequency 1 to 99?

On the Q40 machines it's just an arbitrary number, Iron on the lower numbers, hammered coins around 50, Georgian coins around 80-85 etc, look on the Quest page, I put up a few discrimination numbers.

If it's better than the Q40 it will be one helluva machine [81/]

In the ground and in the air are 2 different things [81/]

In the ground has all sorts of other variables, time there, surrounding iron flakes or iron objects, wet or dry ground etc
In air is a direct view at close quarters with only emi to contend with...

Thats why air tests are only a very very crude benchmark

Cheers for that
I'm trying to set up to eliminate foil and tin but running over on top won't give me a true meaning
So do I forget this and practice judging the sounds?
