GM6 WOES

Im fairly new (xmas noob) i bought a GM +1 UK for the daughter at xmas and she has loved it on the field were we have gained a permission but found out the GM1 +1 UK is pretty pants for the beach as soon as it gets near anything damp. i bought a GM6 thinking it would be better as it has multi frequencies but it seems just as bad as the GM +1UK

Does anyone else use their GM on a beach by wet sand and have any false signals etc and is there any settings on the GM6 to help with this ?
