Good luck with your search but I would imagine most traditional clubs would be under the restrictions ours is, no meetings since March and club digs limited to six only has resulted in digs grounding to halt as well.

I don't travel that way anymore
But have been out with PMDG a few time and found them a friendly bunch
Also found them to be fair on fields as well. In that the haven't previously been someone's private permission or previously done to death.
As with any detecting it is the luck of the draw but from memory I think I was averaging silver every 3rd dig and something interesting clog clasp or the like nearly every dig. Which isn't bad considering most were the middle of nowhere
https://pmdg.org.uk/
I have never been out with them. But someone in the same club goes out with the Ribble Valley Facebook group and post plenty of finds.
Happy Hunters also on Facebook can be very hit or miss. Its a bit different in its a day out. Each rally includes dink and BBQ or similar
Obvious Covid-19 affects all rallies at the moment. Especially around Manchester.

Hi Ian,
Not sure where in Manchester you are ( it's a big place!) But if you search ' Underground Metal Detecting ' on facebook you will find a group that detects the Oldham / Saddleworth area.
A very helpful and friendly group who are always taking on new members.
Hope this helps
