Are there any restrictions while detecting on beaches in the UK?

Check the crown estates website for map on allowed areas - see https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/en-gb/ ... one-flying Zoom in on the area of map for your location. Areas coloured purple are where Crown Estates own the foreshore and allow detecting.
Also check with local council to see if any restrictions as sometimes the foreshore is leased out to another party and they may have imposed a restriction. Some areas of the foreshore are also protected SSSI sites ,which again is a no no but the local council will probably be aware and be able to guide you.

Further to the Crown Estate info above, have a check on Magic Maps

Drill down to the beach you are looking at detecting on and on the left side, open up Designations (use the expand button, not the tick box), then expand Statutory in the same way and scroll down to "Sites of Special Scientific Interest" - tick the box to see if it's applicable.

PS. I think I'm using this correct but someone may come along and tell me I'm not. [03/]
