Thanks koala, I've got it, was hoping someone on here had experience with it.
I understand it's going to be a learning curve, but I wanted to try out a machine with more settings than I've had before, wonder if any nel tornados fit it :-/

Thanks beechunta, it may be deep enough, I've got a couple of turn on and go detectors so I can always use them if I get bit stuck with the R1 I'll take my time with it and Do my best, it will be well made anyway that I do know

Hi there

We stopped making the R1 quite a long time ago so spares are in very limited supply if anything goes wrong.

Regarding the search heads, there are no after market search heads available for this unit. We may have replacement heads in stock but other than that I am afraid that you will not find any.

There may be some useful operating tips on Paul Shields' website:

Thanks Andy, and thanks fusion, I'll have a look at that, videos of it on you tube are quite impressive.
Is the control box weather resistant Andy?

My cscope. Newforce R1 arrived today, and not only does everything about it ooze quality, it's also in new condition, no marks anywhere, haven't been this pleased with a detector for ages, can't wait till tomorrow, it's condition is so good it's almost a shame to get it in mud! Every quirk and learning curve I'll learn, there's something about cscope, I wouldn't be surprised if someone digs up a cscope in 100 years time, sticks some batteries in and puts it on the finds section on here, beeping of course! Definitely getting the hang of ground balancing the R1 it's a awesome machine, in fact it paid for the biscuits I'm stuffing in my face just now, I get strange looks from shopkeeper when I hand them a pile of mud n coins. Also found.about a fiver in old pound coins too. [81/]

Thanks beechunta, it was the ground balancing I struggled with at first, and maybe setting own programs, but I think I've got gb ok now, I knew it was me, I've been ground balancing it even on the preset programs, and tuning the threshold to a faint hum, mostly use it in all metal, but today I used coin inland, and still hit decent depths and came home with a pocketful of coins.

I've got other detectors for when I'm wanting a more simple days detecting, but this is a bit old. But it's not short of gadgets. Ground radars nifty touch, loads of settings as u know beechunta, I would like to have tracked down the small coil that would have originally came with too,
Wish I could also find a rain cover for it, was thinking whites coinmaster similar control box shape /size. But I sold that machine while ago, so maybe the box was not all that similar

Cheers, I will do that, I've heard it's kind of weather proof, but I'm not taking chance, I'll look at finding a 440 case if not. A home made job

Hi there

The CS440 cover will not fit the R1, they have a similar shape but the R1 case is about 50% larger then the CS440.

No worries Andy, I knew it was only a chance. I'll make a cover up for it.
It's pride and joy
