Where on the beech is the best place to search

Post by Fawcedani87 »

Where do you guys find the best finds......

Near the water line at low tide, or further up the beech in the dry sand.

Never seem to have any luck with searching on the beach. Hundreds of bottle tops, and 4/5 modern coins.

Personally I would say it's all about observation:-
1 - How does the tide affect the sand movement of the beach ?
2 - How does the wind direction affect the movement of the beach material ?
3 - Where do people congregate on the beach ?
4 - Where do other metal detectorist's go - they probably know their beaches
To coin an old phrase - look, learn , listen and you won't go far wrong .
I've been walking and searching on beaches for 60 years and I'm still learning - it's an ever changing situation

coins are usually lost on parts where people change clothes or sit and take things out of a bag.
as for the bottle caps, keep in mind people don't come to lose coins or rings however it seems ok to toss garbage around even with trash bins nearby, you will always have more trash then good targets on recreation areas.

Magpie nest up in branches also possible.
Rolling about naked in mud will give the wrong impression.
