Teach a new dog old tricks - Kirkby north west

Post by LunaStorm80 »

Hi guys and girls

Would anyone be willing to meet up and show me the ropes, total novice here.

I live in Kirkby but drive and able to travel

I have just purchased my first detector a Garrett Ace 250, I have had a play in the garden and found a few bits. First find was a battery, a wing of a toy plane, piece of melted lead and something I have no idea what it is, looks like a can with metal rolled up inside.

I was getting signals and couldn't find anything with the indicator going from one end to the other on the same spot.

I currently do not have any permission as I only just got the detector today and had a play for a few hours.

I know practice is the best way forward but just looking for someone who is willing to share some knowledge and see if my technic is going to work. Am I swinging too fast or slow etc

As my subject says teach a new dog some old tricks

Thanks in advance

Welcome mate

Live in Wavertee here but in the last stages of buying a house in Kirkby. Get yaself down the beach its great practice. Also newish to the hobby and don't got any permissions either feels like am late to the game as all I see is people getting reply's from farmers saying they are on a long list of people askin. Bit disheartening. Some good facebook groups runnin though that do group digs for a small fee have been on 2 but they are all off until restrictions lifted. Soil Surfers is a good one its wales based though usually about an hour travel to a dig when they are back on.

Welcome to the hobby and good hunting to ya [81/]
