Hello,
I've been detecting with the Garrett Ace 300i for about a year now and have loved using it. However, the more detecting I do I've noticed that it is iron falsing. I get a great bell-tone signal with no iron grunts mixed in, only to dig it and find its a piece of scrap iron!
I know about notch discrim and sensitivity and have experimented with settings but it still seems to be happening.
Does anyone has any advice about how to stop this please?
Thanks.

I have the 200i and if it's a decent size piece of iron , I get a bell tone as well. The give away for me is the vid no. , it tends to be tight on one number if it's iron, usually 81 or 82 and its deep , I don't get excited
.
Have u tried turning 90β° to see if a grunt happens?
I want to see a signal rattling around 81 - 89 for a penny . My first silver hammered was 65-70.
Half Penny dips to high 70s .
Got to dig the tosh signals tho , as you never know.

Thanks very much @TheDonut, really helpful.
No, I haven't tried the 90 degree trick - I will give that a go.

Hi, have used the 400i same as the 300i bar the coil size for over 5 years.
Believe there is no way you will stop this as the numbers will normally be in the 70`s which you do not want to discriminate, as it is basically dig everything that dings above 60. Below 60 i discriminate out. Use Sensitivity at 2 blocks offf maximum.
What i would say is a 99 is guaranteed deep iron, normally a foot or so deep.
93 is the highest decent target normally Bronze coins.
Cheers,
Dave.

Thank you very much indeed @DaveTheSlave for those tips - very helpful.
I will drop my sensitivity a bit then as I am running at 1 bar off max.
