The acquiring Museum needs to provide/raise the funds to purchase or have them available.

That Museum may be awaiting a grant from another body (or multiple other bodies) for the acquisition of the find.

Until the funding is in place the finder/landowner wait patiently...

And in my case that may be quite some time, as my ring found at the end of summer 2020 has just had the report back about it, now going to start the valuing bit and a small very local museum has expressed an interest in getting it (Lawrence House Launceston) got a feeling they might not have much dosh to spare [27/]

Hello
and thanks for the replies.
The point i was making is the valuation and process is over and all agreed on.
its totally finished
how long can the museum keep going without paying out.
the last of the process was done 5 months ago??????

In reality there is no fixed time limit for payment legally or otherwise.

If you need to pursue it then treat it like any other debt.

Write to the acquiring Musem and give them 21 days to pay, then follow the Money Claim online route.

About time HMG introduced some SMART targets for the process but that is another thread. [88/]

Apparently unless there are exceptional circumstances they are supposed to take one year and if you are not satisfied with the Treasure team valuation you have to write to the Secretary of State within 28 days.
I would suggest that we have just been through exceptional circumstances with the pandemic. @#p[

Mind you I know they can be a slow bunch at the best of times.[72/]
