Anyone know if permission is required?
I've been eyeing up a tidal shoreline right next to a castle (11th century) and has evidence of Roman and iron settlement at the same site.
The shoreline is marked in pink on the crown estates map.
Is the estates map accurate enough to consider it fair game?
Detecting a tidal shore next to a castle?

To give a better chance of a reply /sound info to your question it may be worth naming the castle and area.
Protected sites/SSSI etc MAY have their own rules even if its on the Crown estate foreshore map.![ThumbsUp [81/]](./images/smilies/81_EmoticonsHDcom.png)

OK.. just found out the site is also SSSI for tentacled lagoon worms... so no digging allowed.
Anoyingly they probably only inhabit the mud flats and loads of the shore is also shale / pebble

As above. I totally understand why you were avoiding naming, however, if its an area where detecting is allowed I'm 100% sure people will know of it and been there so nothing to loose
. Better that than getting into trouble.
