Nortumberland beach near bamburgh

Post by pete@boston »

Are there any restrictions on beach detecting around northumberland beaches please?
My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

I'm sure it's all crown estate just a case of applying for a permit (there free) and you can download a map of whats crown estate ie which beaches the permit covers. I was at embleton beach the other day and had no issues :)

Bamburgh is full of history, the castle being a focal part of the Bernard Cornwall books on the viking invasions and gradual settlement of England. Lots of history online for you to check out, Liam B-)

I watched a programme recently where they dug up loads of skeletons from the sand dunes near the castle.
Its better out of the ground and in your hand for the history or monetary value rather than left in the ground to rot doing nothing for anyone.

Two years ago I pulled into the car park at Bamburgh Castle and was told by the attendant that MD was not allowed on the beach. However recently Crown Estates have uploaded a map on line stating the Bumburgh Beach is a Crown Estate beach. I dont know if you'd get anywhere arguing the point
