Lovely bit of stuff.

Finding and identifying old pottery and fragments while out metal detecting.

Lovely bit of stuff.

I don't normally pick up pottery bits but this was very attractive to my eyes.

Any ideas on purpose or age please? I think it'll end up as some kind of ornament in my workshop [81/]

Thankyou.

That's nice, it looks like a fancy screw top/lid off something of probably Victorian era [81/]

Maybe cosmetics related [42/]

Probably a stopper for a stoneware flagon like this one . That would be my guess.

Looks like the screw top of a stone hot water bottle to me, in fact I'd bet on it, I've done one up enough times. Age wise probably Victorian/Edwardian.
