Garrett Coil Question

Hey Folks...

Is there a technology based reason why you might not be able to put a Coil from one Garrett machine onto another. For instance, say you wanted a bigger coil but not pay full price for the 9x12 on an Ace 250. Is there anything stopping you putting the 12.5" crossfire II coil on instead?

The reason for the question is because ive seen Garrett coils go cheaply on auction sites but the non Ace models.

I would have thought the workings of the coil are determined by the circuitry in the control box, meaning the coil just does what its told?

Anyone tried/know why you shouldnt?
