If I had a choice between these two machines I would choose the Apex as it’s lighter. It will be hard enough as it is traipsing around this up and down bumpy field, why choose the extra weight.

I would put it in the multi frequency mode and open up the discrim to hear quite a bit of the action, ie Relic mode or similar.

Some detectors hate freshly ploughed soil due to the air pockets or 'fluffy soil' that can cause problems, its better after it has rained so that soil settles down.....that may not be the case with the Garretts that you have mentioned though.
Equinox 6'',11'' and 15'' coils.
Deus 2 9'' coil.
Minelab GPX 14'' and 18'' Coiltek coils.
Fisher TW-5 twin box.
Nexus MP 13'' coil.
Nexus SE dual 9'' coil.
Whites TDI Pro 20'' coil.

First time on ploughed for me so will find a nice quiet part of the 100 acres and try a few different settings, :;@ i wernt too sure with this apex at first as it seemed to have a mind of its own, but i think its fantastic now, once its set right and ground balanced it does the job fine, i were finding tiny brass studs out of workers jeans and boots last week a foot down, :;@

We will see what today brings in way of finds, am not too fussed if i dont find silver or gold, its the strange looking things i like, sarnies are made and flasks filled, apex and headphones charged up,
Bring it on.. :;@ i have a good feeling about this first outing on ploughed fields, and if am rubbish theres a few acres of pasture too and a bit a stubble. [81/]

Well that ploughed field swingings hard work for sure, tried the apex in MF for a while and all i seemed to get was nails and old bits a scrap lead or ally, my knees couldent hold up to that sort of punishment and it were great to get on a pasture this morning, set it in custom and 15kh and it seemed a lot better, must a walked 6 miles on this 100 acres, found a super nice old padlock, couple a buttons and loads a nails, and even a tap,one strange looking blob a red stuff thats fallen out a ring that needs a clean. a great day out, :;@
