Your new Deus will take quite a bit of getting used to. I can suggest using one of the basic modes first as this might give you a 'quieter' ride.
My custom program that works well for me on most sites is...
12khz
4 tones
disc 7.5
reactivity 2
sens 90
GB tracking
Depending on your site simply adjust the sensitivity. Remember, you may find more with the sens set lower as you won't be constantly chasing chatter and false signals. Slowly up the sens as you get better at using the machine. Unfortunately digging junk is part of the game. The better you know you Deus the less you will dig but you'll never avoid it altogther without missing all the goodies!
Good luck!

As with settings on any machine, alter one and it may affect another parameter.
The XP's are known for their speed of recovery. The Deus allows you to alter the recovery speed in 6 stages. 00 gives you optimum depth but may mask good targets mixed in with ferrous. 05 will give you ultimate target separation but the detection range will be limited.
After a few weeks, you'll discover what is what, at a basic level, and that's because there are so many choices with the factory pre-set programmes.
To start with, I would use 'Relic' on clean pasture, GMP on a trashier sites and Deus Fast on iron infested Roman sites! You could always tweak the settings to suite, but doing so virtually creates one of the other factory settings! If you check out the table in the manual, you will see that all the modes are similar to each other, but certain parameters are adjusted, up or down.
For example, Deus Fast is identical to GMP except for the reactivity level which is increased by ONE point!
The more you listen to the signals, the more you HEAR! I've heard audio I've never noticed before.
It's like listening to a music track done on a multi-channel mixer with some of the channels muted, then un-muting a couple of tracks and listen to the difference! You'd think... "I didnt notice that guitar before...." lol
Once this is mastered (and I'm nowhere near yet) you can ditch the meter

Great texts Fisher1266X and Verulamium, good information and advice.
One thing also that I have noticed from a number of detectorists that have used other detectors, is that they used to use their detectors WITHOUT headphones, they hated the wires. And now with the Deus they use the wireless headphones and find many more finds. I always use headphones, then you find many more deeply buried artifacts and coins.
